I hope everyone had a nice Christmas or at least a nice day offi My car arrived on US soil yesterday afternoon. The boat is already back out to see. I’m not expecting to see it until at least next week. What say you Oppo? How many days to get through customs?

Depending how much paperwork they did in advance (which appears to be all of it) and...

... the federal government’s shut down.

Port of entry for goods is USCIS, which is funded by fees. But they’re dependent on “non-critical” government functions which are shut down. Your import needs EPA and NHTSA clearance, and the doors are locked at both.

It’s a car that’s been delivered by boat in the port of Baltimore.

I am guessing 9, because I am salty. (My wife’s friend sent us Christmas presents from Japan and we have been waiting over a month.)

I’m guessing a week. 9 days would be fine as I will probably have the tag for it by then!

Very much not the case; EPA only operates until they run out of money in the carryover funds .

https://www.epa.gov/sites/production/files/2018-12/documents/epa_contingency_plan_december_18_2018_508.pdf

Last time they made it about a week before sending home basically 98% of their staff.

NHTSA ain’t in better shape; they immediately furloughed 331 of 584. Enforcement activities are suspended, and imports are covered by enforcement.

Yea whatever I was reading said the EPA would be open this week at least. I pinged the import company to find out if I should expect any delays.
